The Bittern Line Partnership want you to enjoy cycling to, from and around the Bittern Line. We offer the following advice to help you to do this safely:

Do not ride bikes anywhere on Railway Stations

Cycles are vehicles and must observe the Highway Code

Adopt a positive attitude on the road. Cycle confidently, look behind you before signalling clearly and ride at least 2 feet (60cm) away from the kerb.

Wear bright or fluorescent clothing to make yourself more visible to other road users. Reflective clothing is recommended after dark - waterproof and warm clothing in case of changes in weather

Before starting your journey ensure that your bike is roadworthy. Check the brakes, chain, tyres, lights, gears and saddle height. Ensure you have a rear red reflector.

Carry a pump, repair kit and small tools, spare inner tube, a secure lock, a small supply of food and drink and some personal identification.

When using shared cycle paths be courteous, cyclists must give way to pedestrians, be aware of dogs and pass horses with care, a bell is useful to alert others to your presence.
